in UCONN NBA

(All times Eastern)

Washington (2-3) @ Indiana (1-3) 7PM - Caron Butler and the Wizards stop by Conseco Fieldhouse Friday night to say hi to A.J. Price and the Pacers… Caron is off to a bit of a slow start thus far, averaging just 14 points.   Price is averaging just 3.5 minutes per game….

Detroit (2-3) @ Orlando (4-1) 7PM – Orlando will look to avenge their only loss tonight vs Ben Gordon, Charlie Villanueva, and the Pistons.  Richard Hamilton has already been ruled out with an ankle.  Gordon seems awfully comfortable in his new digs…averaging just over 25 points per game as a Piston. Villanueva is averaging 11 and 5.5.

New Jersey (0-5) @ Philadelphia (2-2)  7PM – The Nets are off to a brutal start, hoping to avoid their worst start in team history this evening.  The Nets are averaging just 89 PPG, while allowing 103. Yikes. Josh Boone is coming off his best game of the year, in which he put up 11 points, and had 8 boards in 29 minutes vs the Nuggets.  Boone is averaging 4.4 points, and 4.4 rebounds.

Phoenix (4-1) @ Boston (6-0) 7:30PM – The Suns visit Beantown in perhaps the evening’s best match up.  Uncle Ray is averaging 15 ppg thus far, and has yet to really find his stroke….he’s shooting .357 from behind the arc…

Toronto (2-2) @ New Orleans (2-3) 8PM – The Raptors take a trip down to the Big Easy Friday night…Emeka Okafor looks to continue building on what has already been a good start.  Okafor was hampered all preseason with a toe, so is really just starting to play with Chris Paul…Emeka is averaging 13.8 points, 11.2 rebounds, and his 2.4 blocks are good for third best in the NBA…Hilton Armstrong is averaging just 2.2 ppg in 15 minutes.

Oklahoma City (2-2) @ Houston (3-2) 8:30PM - The Thunder are playing pretty well thus far, considering the starting 5′s average age is 23.  Posting wins over Sacramento and Detroit, and losing a  heart-breaker in OT to the Lakers their last time out.  The Ol’ Man, Kevin Ollie, who will turn 37 in December, has seen his minutes increase in each of the first 4 games…Ollie had 4 points, 4 assists, 2 Steals and no turnovers in the loss to the Lakers.

Memphis (1-4) @ Los Angeles (4-1) 10:30PM – Well…the Grizzlies sure do score a lot of points (106.6)….Rudy Gay is third on the team with 20.2 ppg (OJ Mayo 20.6, Zach Randolph 20.4)…problem is, they can’t stop anyone…the Grizzlies are allowing a league worst 115.2 points per game…Kobe is already leading the league in scoring at 33.2…look for a big number tonight…Hasheem Thabeet is off to a rough start…he’s scored only 2 points in 29 minutes of play…Marcus Williams has played okay in limited time…averaging 4.8 points in 13 minutes ppg, but with Iverson back from a hammy issue, Marcus becomes the odd man out…he’ll see limited time moving forward.
