Byron Jones (WR/CB St.Paul Catholic, Bristol, CT), who committed to UConn in July, is having himself an excellent senior campaign.   Jones, who’s season began modestly with 4 catches for 53 yards in week one, and 1 catch for 35 yards in week two, has since erupted.   On October 2nd vs Watertown Jones caught 13 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown, and has never looked back…Jones has scored at least 1 TD in each game since, including a 2 TD, 5 catch,  149 yard performance vs Kennedy (Waterbury) on October 24th.  Through the season’s first 8 games, Jones has caught a total of 39 passes, for 651 yards (16.69 yards per reception), and 7 touchdowns.  He has also added two 2-point conversion receptions.  Jones leads the team in touchdowns, receptions, and receiving yards.   On the defensive end Jones is also excelling…intercepting 3 passes thus far, good for a tie for the team lead….rumor has it that Jones is being brought in to play cornerback at UConn.

Jones was a teammate of current Red-shirting Husky WR Marcus Aiken, who rushed for 1000 yards and 15 td’s last year for St. Paul..as well as UConn baseball player, Ryan Moore, who was also an outstanding football player.  Current Jr Husky long snapper Derek Chard is also from St. Paul…UConn has opened up a nice pipeline with St. Paul…
