Tough one for the Nets, who led with less than two minutes to go,79-78. The 76ers scored the game’s final four points, pulling out the victory 82-79. The loss drops New Jersey to 0-8, who is off to the worst start in team history. Josh Boone scored 6 points on 3-6 shooting, and added 8 rebounds, 3 blocked shots and an assist. The Sixers improved to 4-4.
The Celtics cruised to a 105-86 victory over Utah. Boston had 7 players score in double figures..Ray Allen had 4 assists, and scored 15 points on 6-8 shooting (1-3 from three). The Celts stand atop the Eastern Conference at 8-1, the Jazz dropped to 3-5.
Charlie Villanueva was brilliant in leading the Pistons (4-4) to an easy 98-75 victory over the Bobcats (3-5). Villanueva led all scorers with 30 points on 13-17 shooting. Ben Gordon was almost as impressive, scoring 22 points on 10-16 shooting…Gordon had a game high 8 assists…Still no Rip Hamilton…ankle…
The Grizzlies fell to 1-8 following their 79-104 loss to the Rockets….Rudy Gay scored 18 points on 6-13 shooting..Marcus Williams was heavily relied upon, playing 31 minutes…Williams did not have a great night shooting, scoring 7 points on 3-11 shooting, he did however have 7 assists to 1 turnover…and added 3 rebounds..Hasheem Thabeet was out with the broken jaw..The Rockets improved to 5-3.
The Thunder (4-4) got an important road win last night over the Clippers(3-6), 83-79. Kevin Ollie had a big night, playing 26 minutes, scoring a season high 11 points on 4-7 shooting, adding 5 boards, a steal and an assist. Staring pg Russell Westbrook was ineffective, scoring 2 points on 1-11 shooting, which opened the door for Ollie…and the NBA’s eldest Husky didn’t disappoint…
New Orleans had a tough draw on the road last night in Phoenix, and things went sort of you would have expected. The Suns scored 40 points in the first quarter, en route to 124-104 victory. Emeka Okafor scored 13 points on 5-7 shooting, and added 4 boards and 2 blocks. Hilton Armstrong scored 6 points on 3-7 shooting, and added 3 rebounds. The Hornets fell to 3-6, the Suns improved to 8-1, matching the Celtics for the league’s best record. Phoenix handed Boston their lone loss at the Garden last week.
