Think Gavin Edwards got the message?  Edwards scored 14 points on an  impressive 7 of 8 shooting, and posted 5 rebounds and 3 blocks, in a 77-63 win over Colgate.

Maybe we were all a little quick to write off the Huskies ability to block shots this year?  They blocked 8 shots vs Colgate, and 7 vs William and Mary…last year the Huskies led the nation in blocks with 7.8…off to a 7.5 bpg start…we’ll take it.

Stanley Robinson, Gavin Edwards, and Alex Oriakhi combined to go 17 of 18, for 36 points.  Robinson led all scorers with 18 points…

Jamal Coombs-McDaniel kicked in 11 points in just 15 minutes, going 3-6 from deep…Coombs-McDaniel actually hit some pretty important shots to keep the Huskies going when they were struggling.

Jerome Dyson couldn’t shoot tonight…he scored 10 points on just 3 of 15 shooting.  Great sign that the Huskies were able to adjust the offensive game plan in the second half when it was clear that running the offense through Jerome wasn’t going to get it done tonight…

Kemba Walker played much better tonight…16 points on 7-16 shooting, 6 assists and 5 steals…nice….

Free throw shooting…5-10…yuck.

3 point shooting….8-19…Excellent.

Good all around effort tonight, 5 Huskies in double figures…..slow, sluggish start, but that will happen when arguably your top offensive threat starts the game 1-11 (Dyson)…Once the adjustments were made, it was a wrap…

Kemba was good. He was looking for his shot a lot more.

I think Mc-D hit his first three 3pt shots no? He also seemed to be playing pretty good D.

My man Stanley!

UConn’s interior play scares me. Edwards played well offensively but his defense is horrendous. The big east will eat him up and spit him out. I’m very anxious to see Ater play, hopefully he’s more of a presence.

I hear you Wolferowski, but I think Edwards is going to surprise a lot of people this year…5 blocks thus far, 10 ppg off the bat…when they run plays for him, he scores easily…he needs to improve on the defensive end, but with the increased minutes, I believe he will…
I am anxious to see Majok as well…although the NBA scouts were not complementary at all, so I am tempering my enthusiasm until we see him with our own eyes…

The name is Jamal Coombs-McDaniel. Trice spells his name Jamaal.
