in UCONN NBA

Oklahoma City (5-5) @ Miami (7-2) 7:30PM ET

Kevin Ollie and the Thunder pay a visit to Dwayne Wade and the Heat tonight.  Oklahoma City is coming off a 93-101 loss to the Clippers, in which Ollie scored 4 points.  The Heat are coming off a last second victory of Josh Boone and the Nets.  The Thunder are playing much better at 5 and 5 this year, last season the they didn’t win their 5th game until January 6th, against the Knicks….shocker.   Ollie is averaging 3.5 points in 15.5 minutes, and is sporting a sharp 5-1 assist to turnover ratio.

Indiana (4-3) @ New Jersey (0-10)

Indiana hopes to keep it going tonight, fresh off their upset over the Celtics Saturday night.  A.J. Price has not been  asked to contribute much this far…averaging just 6.8 minutes per game…He is making the most of his limited opportunities though…he is 3 of 6 from behind the arc, and averaging 2.5 points.  Josh Boone had been playing pretty well recently, but was held scoreless in the past two games.  Boone is averaging 4.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 0-7 blocks in 18.8 minutes…

Los Angeles Clippers (4-7) @ New Orleans (3-8) 8PM ET

The Clippers have lost 10 in a row to the Hornets…tonight might be their night.  The Hornets are 0-2 with their new coach, and with Chris Paul likely to be sideline for another 3 to 4 weeks, the light at the end of the tunnel is just a speck.  Emeka Okafor debuted as a Hornet with a splash, averaging 13.8 points, and 11.2 rebounds in the first 5 games.  In the last 6, he’s seen his numbers begin to slide, averaging 7.6 points and 8 rebounds…The Hornets will need Okafor to pick it up in Chris Paul’s absence.  Hilton Armstrong is averaging 3.7 points, and 3.5 boards, but will sit this one out with a sprained shoulder.

And the Headliner…

Detroit (5-5) @ Los Angeles Lakers (7-3) 10:30PM ET

Detroit hopes to hand Kobe and the Lakers their third straight loss tonight in LA.  Richard Hamilton will not be playing on Detroit’s 4 game road trip, as was originally thought…this is some ankle..does Detroit have the same medical staff as the New York Mets?  Ben Gordon will look to rebound from the worst game of his career, a 1-16 shooting performance Sunday night vs Dallas.  Still, Gordon is averaging an outstanding 22.4 points per game.  Charlie Villanueva is averaging 16.7 points this year, 3.2 points better than his career average.
