Syracuse's Delone Carter has rushed for 919 yards and 10 touchdowns

Syracuse (4-7) @ UConn (5-5) 12pm ET

No let downs.  The Huskies whirlwind of emotions finally turned to joy after last week’s overtime win in South Bend.  Today they must go to the well again, as a feisty and able Syracuse team pays a visit to the Rent.  The Orange are coming off their biggest win of the year, a 31-13 drubbing of Rutgers.  Syracuse completely shut down the Rutgers offense in that one, allowing just 130 total yards.

The Orange are stout against the run, they rank 9th nationally, allowing just over 92 yards per game.  Only Pittsburgh’s Dion Lewis has eclipsed the 100 yard mark vs them this year.  With wind gusts of up to 30 mph expected, the Huskies will try to pound the rock, and wear down that Syracuse front 7.  Andre Dixon and Jordan Todman will get plenty of opportunities today.  The Huskies could approach 50 carries in this one.

Conversely, Syracuse will be trying to do the same exact thing.   The Orange running game is led by talented senior running back, Delone Carter.  Carter is having an excellent season, rushing for 919 yards and 10 touchdowns, on 216 carries.

Syracuse’s QB Greg Paulus, has had an up and down year, with perhaps a few more downs than ups.  He played very well last week vs Rutgers, throwing for 140 yards and a touchdown, on 13 of 16 passing.  Paulus has had turnover issues, he has 14 interceptions to go along with his 11 touchdowns.  It should be noted that 5 of his 14 interceptions came in one bad game vs South Florida.  Paulus had a huge game earlier in the season when the Orange knocked off Northwestern.  He threw for 346 yards on 24 of 35 passing, and two touchdowns.  Paulus is capable of a big game, but it’s difficult to see it happening today, on the road, in some very windy conditions.

Syracuse beating Rutgers 31-13 last week is an eye-opener.  The boys will be ready, they know what’s on the line.  The Huskies can become bowl eligible with a win today.
