Stanley Robinson had 16 points and 9 rebounds
That was better, wasn’t it? The Huskies dominated in all phases of this one, beating Boston University 92 to 64. The Huskies played smothering defense all game, holding BU to just 30.3 % shooting, while blocking 6 shots and getting 7 steals.
The Defense wasn’t the only bright spot in this one. The Huskies offense was sluggish out of the gate, but over the final 30 minutes was electric. The Huskies shot 48.3% percent as a team, and remembered that you have to take threes, to make threes. The Huskies were 4 of 11 from deep.
Jerome Dyson led the way with 22 points on 7-14 shooting, and was back to his old self at the stripe, going 7-8. Scary moment in the second half when Dyson did a split and grabbed his surgically repaired left knee…he was fine, it looked like he just scraped it…maybe just some good ol’ gym floor burn.
Kemba Walker was much more under control, scoring 15 points and dishing out 10 assists. 10!
Stanley Robinson was the human highlight reel tonight. I lost track of his dunks…if there’s one thing Stanley knows, it’s how to finish. He scored 16 points on 7-10 shooting, and grabbed 9 rebounds. Nice to have someone besides Alex Oriakhi grab some rebounds…
About those rebounds, how does a 50-25 advantage sound? Robinson, Gavin Edwards, and Oriakhi all grabbed 9 boards a piece. Jamal Coombs-McDaniel, who played some good minutes in this one (20), grabbed 7 himself, while scoring 12 points.
It’s good to see some bench scoring…Edwards scored 12 points as well, but calling Edwards’ points bench points is being disingenuous…Edwards played 29 minutes in this one. Not counting Edwards the Huskies’ bench scored 20 tonight, and that’s what this team has been missing in the early going. In addition to Coombs-McDaniel’s 12, Darius Smith scored 4, and Jamaal Trice and Donnell Beverly scored 2 a piece.
The Huskies shot 30-35 from the free throw line. Had they done that vs Duke, they may have won.
Not a lot to complain about in this one, the Huskies showed improvement in all of the areas we thought they needed to.
Next up: Harvard, Gampel – 1pm ET Sunday

Stanley was indeed a highlight reel. Anyone find clips of his display yet?
Nice way to come back after struggling with Duke. On a side note I wasn’t cheering for Duke one bit (because I despise them) last night but the more they win in the season the better it will be when it come to selection Sunday for the dogs. Still need to find a deep threat because if teams can slow us down to a half court game in the bigeast we could struggle. Walker and Stanley were fantastic.
Jhops, I wouldn’t worry too much about a November loss to Duke on selection Sunday…Duke will pile up the wins in the ACC…Jerome and Kemba just have to shoot better from the outside…I think Coombs-McDaniel is someone that will improve from the outside as we move forward…
