The Wizards, playing in their first game since the Gilbert Arenas suspension, got a nice come-from-behind victory over the Magic, 104-97. Caron Butler poured in 23 and grabbed 7 boards, as Washington improved to 12-22. They’ll host Emeka Okafor and the Hornets Sunday afternoon.
The Celtics lost for the fourth time in six tries, 93-85 to the Hawks. Of the Celtics 9 losses, 5 have come on Friday night. Ray Allen scored 15 points, and Paul Pierce had a team high 21. The C’s drop to 25-9, they’ll visit Toronto Sunday afternoon.
The Hornets pushed their season high winning streak to 5, with a 103-99 win over the hapless Nets. Emeka Okafor had 13 points and a game high 13 rebounds. Josh Boone, who did not play in the Nets’ two previous games, scored 2 points and grabbed 4 boards in 7 minutes. The 18-16 Hornets take a trip to the nation’s capital on Sunday, while the 3-33 Nets visit San Antonio.
Indiana fell on the road to Minnesota, 116-109. A.J. Price scored 10 points and had 7 assists in just 22 minutes. Over the past five games Price is averaging 7.6 points and 4.6 assists in 17.4 minutes. The 11-24 Pacers will visit Oklahoma City Saturday night.
The Grizzlies won again, 91-89 over the Jazz. After starting the season 1-8, Memphis has gone an impressive 17-9. Rudy Gay scored 22 points, grabbed 7 boards and blocked 3 shots for the streaking Grizzlies. Marcus Williams scored 6 points, and added a steal and an assist in 15 minutes. Hasheem Thabeet had a difficult evening…5 minutes, 4 fouls…he did block 2 shots and grab a rebound. The 18-17 Grizz will be in Charlotte tomorrow night.
