How about this for a bracket buster? There’s a rumor out there, with quite a bit of traction, that the NCAA tournament will be expanded to include 96 teams, perhaps as soon as next season.
An ESPN source said, “It’s a done deal with the expansion of the tournament. Depending on how soon a (TV) deal is done, the added teams could start next year. The NCAA confirmed that bidders would be interested in 96 teams, so they’re going with it.”
Really NCAA? This is more pressing than a football playoff? Let’s hope this rumor isn’t true, I think it’s a terrible idea…unless they can add the extra teams this season, making UConn a lock for the field? I kid, don’t do it. The tournament is the pinnacle of all sports post seasons…if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
