So let’s take a look at the remaining schedule, and figure out a way for the boys to make the Big Dance…

Saturday Feb 13th (H) – Cincinnati 14-9, 5-6
Monday Feb 15th (A) – Villanova 21-2, 10-1
Saturday Feb 20th (A) – Rutgers – 12-12, 2-9
Monday Feb 22nd (H) – West Virginia -19-4, 10-2
Sunday Feb 28th (H) – Louisville -15-8, 6-4
Wednesday Mar 3rd (A) – Notre Dame – 17-7, 6-5
Saturday Mar 6th (A) – South Florida – 15-8, 5-6

The Huskies have to go at least 5-2 down the stretch, to have any chance at an at large bid. Here’s the obvious, win the three home games, and split the four road games. If we chalk the Nova game up as a loss, we must go 2-1 @ ND, USF, and Rutgers. Sure Notre Dame is a tough place to play, but the Huskies have won there before, and played one of their best games of the year vs Notre Dame earlier in the season. Rutgers is terrible. South Florida will be tricky, those kids can play.

So, should the Huskies lose any of the three home games, one of which is vs a very good West Virginia team, then they must go 3-1 in the road games…which is not impossible, but certainly difficult.

If the Huskies can indeed get to 5-2, which will put them at 19-12 (9-9), they’ll have life entering the Big East Tournament. One win there, and I believe we’d be in. A 20 win UConn team, with a top notch SOS, makes the dance…we’d also have the benefit of playing well late, which the selection committee likes…

I think they really need to get the one on the road against Nova.
