Edgar Sosa scored 15 points vs UConn on February 1st
Louisville (18-10, 9-6) at UConn (17-11, 7-8) Gampel Pavilion
Sunday February 28th, 2PM ET TV : CBS
The Huskies will have revenge on their minds when they host Louisville on Sunday, who soundly beat UConn 82-69 on February 1st. The Huskies didn’t defend anyone in that game, allowing 48 first half points, and allowing Louisville to shoot .446 from the floor and .455 from deep. Edgar Sosa led a balanced attack that night, scoring a team high 15 points on 6-9 shooting, and dishing 8 assists. Sosa was one of four players to score in double figures.
The Cardinals are hard to figure out…they’re a lot like UConn in that regard. They recently got dismantled by St. John’s at the Garden, and then went on the road to beat Syracuse. They followed that up with an overtime win over Notre Dame and a pedestrian 69-59 win over DePaul. This past Tuesday they scored just 25 second half points and lost at home to Georgetown, 70-60.
They continue to have just two players averaging in double figures, Samardo Samuels and his team leading 16.0, and Edgar Sosa with his 13.3. Samuels also leads the team in rebounding with 7.1 per game, which is good for 14th in the Big East. He’s averaging 17.4 over the last five games, which included a ridiculous 36 point performance in the win over Notre Dame.
Sosa is averaging 12.2 over the last five games, which include perhaps both his best and worst performances of the season. He was held scoreless on 0-6 shooting vs St. John’s, but scored a team high 24 points on 8-16 shooting vs Georgetown. Sosa played at the same high school as Kemba Walker (Rice).

The Huskies were never really in the first match-up, but that was then, and this is now. And that was Freedom Hall and this is Gampel Pavilion, where UConn always gets a boost from the campus crowd, which will be rocking for the CBS National audience. The Huskies are playing their best basketball of the season, and the Cardinals are just 3-6 away from home. Three down, three to go. Let’s Get It…

Senior day too. From Rome:
“A lot of ups and downs throughout the four years, so there will be a lot of emotions [Sunday]. It’s going to be a must-win game for me. I’m going to give everything I’ve got knowing there won’t ever be another game here at Gampel.”
1. We need the win badly, and may lock an NCAA bid with the win.
2. We’re at Gampel.
3. We’re in the midst of a 3 game win streak during which we have looked very good.
4. They beat us and we owe them.
5. It’s the last game at Gampel for Stan, Dyson, and Gavin.
If you’re Louisville, it’s a really, really bad time to be playing CT.
Great points about senior day fellas, should be an emotional day for the Stanley, Rome and Gavin.
Going to game tomorrow I am so fired up to go to Ted’s and be there for the game. Lets go UCONN lets go seniors.
Come on Grant – get the article up – I can’t wait to comment. Guess who’s going to be the focus of my complaints?
Watch out Jerome! Frank’s on the warpath!
Had to travel to the inlaws to write the article…thus the late post…
