The Celtics didn’t disappoint on St. Patrick’s Day, cruising to a 109-97 win over the Knicks.    Ray Allen scored 9 points on 3-6 shooting and had 3 assists.  He and the rest of the starters sat the 4th quarter, as the game was already well in hand.  Paul Pierce led the way with 29 points and Kevin Garnett went an encouraging 9-11 from the floor en route to a 22 point performance.  The C’s improved to 43-24, they’ll visit Houston on Friday night.

A.J. Price scored 14 points and had 6 assists, but the Pacers lost in Cleveland, 99-94.   Price also notched 4 rebounds, a steal and a block.  The loss dropped Indiana to 22-46, they’ll host Rip Hamilton and the boys Friday night.

Josh Boone saw extended minutes vs Philadelphia Wednesday night and acquitted himself pretty well…6 points on 3-6 shooting, 8 boards, an assist and a steal.  The 7-61 Nets will host the Raptors Saturday night.

The Mavericks, who had their 13 game winning streak snapped Saturday in New York, bounced back Wednesday night, downing the Bulls 113-106.   Caron Butler led the way with 27 points on 6-11 from the field and was 14-16 from the stripe.  Dallas is 14-2 since acquiring Butler, and 46-22 overall.  They’ll host Ray Allen and the Celtics Saturday night in what should be a very entertaining game.  The 27 points were the most Butler has scored since joining the Mavs.

The Grizzlies fell on the road to the Rockets, 107-94.  Hasheem Thabeet was excited to be back in Houston, where he lived before attending UConn.  In his second career start he was once again solid; he scored 8 points, pulled down 10 boards and blocked 4 shots.  In two games as a starter he’s averaging 9 points, 9.5 boards and 3 blocks…solid.  Rudy Gay scored 14 points on just 6-17 shooting, while Marcus Williams kicked in 11 points and 3 assists.  Hilton Armstrong did not play for the Rockets (Coaches Decision).  The Grizz will host Golden State Saturday night.

The Hornets’ lost for the 8th time in 10 tries, falling to the Warriors 131-121.  Emeka Okafor scored 6 points and pulled down 6 boards in 19 minutes.   At 33-36 the Hornets are out of it, and it won’t get any easier Thursday evening when they visit Carmelo Anthony and Nuggets.
