Shabazz Napier is lighting it up at the Boo Williams Invitational, knocking down 11…yes ELEVEN, three pointers en route a game high 37 points in a Friday night match-up vs The Family. He followed that up with a 21 point, 4 assist performance on Saturday.
Rivals.com’s Brian Snow was on hand Friday night and had this to say : “UConn commitment Shabazz Napier lit up the scoreboard in a losing effort. Napier hit seven first half threes and added a layup to finish with 23, and then in the second half and overtime he did more of the same. Napier eventually would nail 11 threes, and looked the part of a big time player. Most of Napier’s shots were created by himself, and he was even well defended, but still there was nothing that could have been done.”
Scout.com recruiting analyst Eric Bossi saw Napier Saturday and said that he “looks like Monta Ellis’ mini-me”, and CourtCred.com said “Napier, a UCONN commit started off the game in his usual silky smooth manor, this kid is organized street ball in motion. He’s so slippery with rock, he can get anywhere he wants to on the court.”
Perhaps UConn already has their “elite” guard for 2010…
