Paul Pierce had been relatively quiet in games one and two, scoring 16 and 13 respectively, on a combined 7-20 shooting. He broke out Friday night scoring 32 points on 11-23 shooting, including the game winning jumper as time expired. Ray Allen scored 25 points for the second consecutive game; shooting 8-16 from the field and knocking down 4 three pointers. He also had 5 assists and no turnovers. Allen struggled in game one of the series, scoring just 8 points on 2-9 shooting, but he’s since erupted. Over the past two games Allen is 17-29 from the field, 11-20 from deep and has 8 assists to just 2 turnovers. Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo scored 16 and 17 points respectively.
Dwayne Wade scored a game high 34 points on 14-26 shooting, but tweaked his knee in the waning moments when he stepped on Allen’s foot. Tied at 98, Wade took what might have been the game winning three with 13 seconds to play, but the shot missed and Pierce got the rebound. Wade immediately went to the ground clutching his knee…he did not return. Moments later Pierce knocked down the game winner, putting the C’s in the drivers seat with a commanding 3-0 series lead. The series resumes Sunday at 1pm in Miami.
