A source close to the situation said that shooting guard Tyree Graham, a Junior College standout in North Carolina, could be visiting UConn in the near future. Graham was a three star recruit coming out of high school, and had scholarship offers from Wake Forest, Virgina Tech, Baylor, Texas Tech, Kansas State, Clemson and South Carolina. Graham committed to Bobby Knight and Texas Tech in October of 2007, and joined the team for the 2008-2009 season. His stay in Lubbock was cut short when he returned home to be with his ailing mother, who is now fine. Graham averaged 3.9 points in 13 games as a freshman. He recently gave a verbal commitment to UAB, but has yet to sign his letter of intent.
Graham had a good year at Brunswick Community College, where he averaged 17 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. He once hit 8 three pointers in a game, and shot 42% from deep on the season. He was averaging 23 ppg when he sustained a minor knee injury, but he was still named First Team All-Region and MVP of the Regional Tournament. He helped lead Brunswick to it’s first ever NJCAA Tournament, where he scored 17 points in each of their two games.
Nothing is official at this point, but Graham is definitely on UConn’s radar. We’ll keep you posted.
