Greg Nappo pitched 5 2/3 for the win

UConn 7, Pitt 2

Billy Ferriter had three hits, three RBI and two runs scored, and Pierre LePage went 4-4 with a run scored and two RBI as the Huskies eliminated Pittsburgh on Friday, 7-2.  Starting pitcher Greg Nappo navigated through 5.2 innings, somehow allowing just two runs on ten hits and four walks.   Rough numbers but he got the job done.

George Springer continued his hot hitting, going 2-5 and knocking in one.  Springer is 7-10 in the Big East Tournament.  Mike Olt was 2-5 with two runs scored.

The Huskies will take on Rutgers Saturday morning at 10 AM, and if they can get that one, they need to beat Rutgers again at 5PM this evening.  UConn is 3-1 vs Rutgers this season, the lone loss coming in Thursday’s second round match-up, which the Huskies lost 6-5.
